Minister of Justice discussed the issue of introduction of the institute of protection of interests of businesspeople with the EBRD

On 27 June, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia David Harutyunyan received the delegation led by Principal Counsellor of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Anastasia Rodina.

The Minister highly appreciated the co-operation with the EBRD and discussed with Anastasia Rodina the possibilities for partnership with the Bank for development of legislation on defender of the interests of businesspeople and establishment of this institute.

Let us remind that one of the reforms envisaged by the 2017-2022 Programme of the Government of the Republic of Armenia in the sector of improvement of the business environment and protection of interests of business is also the issue of developing a draft law of the Republic of Armenia "On protection of interests of businesspeople" and introducing the institute of protection of interests of businesspeople with the purpose of protecting violated or disputed rights and the lawful interests of businesspeople, as well as settling disputes.

The Principal Counsellor of the EBRD attached importance to this initiative contributing to improvement of the business environment and expressed willingness to assist in introduction of the institute of protection of interests of businesspeople in Armenia. At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed the future directions and the format of co-operation.
