Minister of Justice touches upon activities being carried out in the anti-corruption sector with IMF representative

Today, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia received the delegation led by Chief of the International Monetary Fund Mission to Armenia Hossein Samiei.

Minister Harutyunyan discussed with the counterparts of the International Monetary Fund a number of issues of mutual interest and touched upon the activities being carried out in the fight against corruption and the reforms in the bankruptcy sector.

In particular, at the request of the guests, Davit Harutyunyan indicated the target sectors of the new Anti-Corruption Strategy and highlighted the fact that the new Strategy would be the evolutionary continuation of the 2015-2018 Anti-Corruption Strategy. In this context, the Minister attached importance to the activities carried out at the legislative level, pinpointing criminalisation of illicit enrichment, restriction on cash flows, enlargement of the circle of persons submitting declarations, introduction of the institution of whistle-blowers, establishment of an independent Anti-Corruption Body and endowment of the latter with new instrumentation.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed willingness to deepen the mutual interaction.
