Artak Zeynalyan receives Head of the ICRC Delegation to Armenia

Today, Acting Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Artak Zeynalyan received newly-appointed Head of the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to Armenia Claire Meytraud.

The Acting Minister highly appreciated the co-operation of the Ministry of Justice with the ICRC and expressed willingness to enhance the mutual co-operation.

Claire Meytraud expressed gratitude to Artak Zeynalyan for the reception and presented the activities of the Red Cross in Armenia, as well as touched upon further opportunities for co-operation.

The Acting Minister of Justice and the Head of the ICRC Delegation to Armenia also discussed issues related to the conditions for holding resident of the Berdavan village of Tavush Marz Karen Ghazaryan, who was arrested in Azerbaijan.

Claire Meytraud informed that the representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross regularly visit Karen Ghazaryan and will pay another visit soon. She added that they constantly keep in contact with the family members of Karen Ghazaryan. The Head of the ICRC Delegation to Armenia informed that their institution has no competence to become involved in the negotiations over the release of imprisoned persons or to have an influence on court judgments.
