One of convicts of “Kosh” Penitentiary Institution tests positive for the coronavirus disease, others test negative

One of the convicts of "Kosh" Penitentiary Institution has tested positive for the coronavirus disease, while the others have tested negative. On 4 June 2020, a sample was taken from one of the convicts who is deprived of liberty at "Kosh" Penitentiary Institution of the Ministry of Justice and was suspected of having the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Due to the fact that the results of the examination were positive, the convict was transferred to the "Hospital of Convicts" Penitentiary Institution of the Ministry of Justice. During the transfer, both the convict and the accompanying staff were provided with personal protective equipment — masks, gloves, as well as special outerwear. The convict was placed in a specially designated shelter (the shelter was specially furnished and technically equipped) at the "Hospital of Convicts" Penitentiary Institution. For security reasons, preventive measures have been taken, and all persons being kept at "Kosh" Penitentiary Institution have also been tested (all convicts have tested negative). Let us remind that in April, within the scope of complex preventive measures, the Ministry of Justice urgently built vestibules for decontamination and sanitation at the entrances of the two buildings of the "Hospital of Convicts" Penitentiary Institution. In addition, the tuberculosis and narcology buildings of the "Hospital of Convicts" Penitentiary Institution were fully emptied so that they could be used exclusively as a quarantine zone for prevention of the spread of the coronavirus in case of need. Both of the separate buildings house up to 150 beds.
