Seminar-discussion for officers of Probation Service and case managers

On 19 June, a seminar-discussion was organised for employees of the Probation Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia and case managers at the Service within the scope of the "Promotion of Re-Socialisation of Minor and Young Convicts" Programme. It was held at the initiative of "Social Justice" NGO.

Head of the Probation Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arsen Navasardyan, Head of Department for Social Assistance of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Astghik Minasyan, Chairperson of "Social Justice" NGO Arshak Gasparyan, employees of Yerevan city body of the Probation Service and case managers of all Territorial Divisions for Social Assistance of all the administrative districts of the city of Yerevan participated in the discussion.

Welcoming the attendees, Head of the Probation Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arsen Navasardyan stated that the meeting would contribute to the strengthening of co-operation and the establishment of partnerships between case managers of the Territorial Divisions for Social Assistance and employees of the Probation Service.

Head of Department for Social Assistance of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Astghik Minasyan touched upon the peculiarities of the tasks of case managers, and the Chairperson of "Social Justice" NGO Arshak Gasparyan emphasised the importance of the types of co-operation and effective implementation of mechanisms for co-operation between case managers of the Territorial Divisions for Social Assistance and employees of the Probation Service.

During the discussion, the main idea of establishing the Probation Service, the peculiarities and the functions were introduced, as well as the skills for risk and needs assessment of beneficiaries of probation and drafting an oversight plan were touched upon.

At the end of the discussion, an agreement to organise ongoing meetings with such a format was reached.
