Today, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Artak Zeynalyan received Co-Rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee for Armenia Yuliya Lovochkina and Giuseppe Galati.

Greeting the guests, the Minister highly appreciated the efforts of the Council of Europe aimed at strengthening democracy and assured that the new Government of Armenia was going to fulfil all the international commitments undertaken by the Republic of Armenia with a high sense of responsibility. Artak Zeynalyan underlined that the Government was disposed to implement serious reforms and added that, taking into account the recommendations concerning them and provided by international organisations and bringing them to life, they would aspire to have the Armenia of their dreams.

PACE representative Yuliya Lovochkina expressed her gratitude for the reception, congratulated Artak Zeynalyan on the occasion of being appointed to the office of Minister of Justice and wished the Government — enjoying public confidence — success.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the priorities of the justice sector in the new Programme of the Government for improving the judiciary, the Compulsory Enforcement Service of Judicial Acts and confinement conditions at penitentiary institutions, as well as touched upon the mechanisms for effective enforcement of ECHR judgments, the decisions of the Constitutional Court and the amendments to be made to the Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia.
