Deputy Minister Srbuhi Galyan participated in the event "Education for all" in "Armavir" Penitentiary Institution

On 28 October, upon the initiative of the "Centre for the implementation of legal education and rehabilitation programmes" SNCO of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, the event "Education for all" devoted to the international education day took place in "Armavir" Penitentiary Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, with the support of managerial staff of the institution. Within the framework of the event an exhibition-sale entitled "Union of Silence" was organised, where handicrafts of persons sentenced to imprisonment were presented.

Major-General of Justice Artur Goyunyan, Head of the "Centre for the implementation of legal education and rehabilitation programmes" SNCO Ashot Hayrapetyan, Deputy Head of the SNCO Gayane Hovakimyan, teachers, many guests interested in the sector, as well as the convicts, whose works were presented in the exhibition, participated in the event.

Welcoming those present at the event and such events aimed at developing the education system among the persons deprived of liberty, Srbuhi Galyan attached importance to implementation of relevant programmes ensuring re-socialisation and further re-integration of the convicts in the society.

Expressing his gratitude for initiating and organising the event, Head of the Service Artur Goyunyan noted that the processes of involving persons in penitentiary institutions in educational programmes, raising them to the relevant educational level and providing knowledge will result in gradually ensuring effective re-socialisation, contributing to their quick and smooth integration in the society and, at the same time reducing criminal phenomena and criminal behaviour to the possible extent".

On the same day the presentation of the book entitled "The will of the Armenian" by Ashot Manukyan sentenced to life imprisonment took place. The book is devoted to Armenian freedom fighters and the brave sons that died in April heroic war.

Head of “Armavir” Penitentiary Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, Colonel of Justice Gerasim Gevorgyan, Deputy Head, Lieutenant Colonel of Justice Gevorg Simonyan also conveyed their gratitude to those present in the event.
