Today, Acting Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia Fukushima Masanori.

Rustam Badasyan welcomed and congratulated the Ambassador on the appointment and wished success in the development of relations between the two countries.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude for the reception and noted that the Government of Japan highly appreciates Rustam Badasyan’s participation in the 14th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice held in Japan in March of this year. According to Ambassador Fukushima Masanori, Armenia and Japan should further strengthen the relations, as he sees its potential, especially in the high-tech and cultural sectors and, despite the structural and systemic differences, in the judicial and legal sector as well.

Rustam Badasyan expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan for the humanitarian aid in the amount of USD 3,6 million provided to Armenia for the purpose of neutralising the consequences of the Artsakh war and touched upon the results of the Congress participation and the broad agenda of co-operation discussed during the meeting with the Japanese partner, in particular, the possibility to introduce the best practice of Japan in the probation and penitentiary sectors in Armenia.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed readiness for personal contribution to the benefit of development of the Armenia-Japan relations.
