Qualification course for mediators — deadline for application is 10 November

The Ministry of Justice, in co-operation with the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, is announcing a pilot qualification course for mediators which citizens having active legal capacity and having attained 25 years old and with higher education, may apply for. Qualification of licensed mediator may not be granted to a person who is a public servant, has been sentenced for committing a crime, and the conviction has not been expunged or cancelled, who has been declared as having no active legal capacity, as having limited active legal capacity, as missing or bankrupt by a judicial act having entered into legal force, the bankruptcy proceedings have not been completed, criminal prosecution is initiated against him or her.

The training course will last for one week, 4 hours per day, and will be held from 17 to 24 November 2023. The training course is open for candidates who wish to become mediator for the first time, or mediators who were licensed before the entry into force of the amendment to the law. In case the latter attend at least 80% of the training course, a new qualification certificate will be issued.

The training course will be conducted by international expert-mediators invited from abroad and in accordance with international standards and the training programme prescribed for the mediation training courses. Twenty candidates selected by the Ministry of Justice will have the opportunity to participate in the pilot training course, taking into account the education, professional experience, professional activities, skills of the candidates who expressed their wish to participate in the training course, as well as other noteworthy circumstances. The training for candidates not engaged in the training course will be carried out during the next stages.

Applicants shall submit the following to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia for the qualification course:

(1)     application (must include contact telephone number and e-mail address)

(2)    carbon copy of passport.

(3)    carbon copy of higher education diploma;

(4)    CV.

The application and attached documents may be submitted on-line by sending them to info@moj.am. The deadline for submission of documents is 10 November 2023 until 18:00.

The training programme will be approved and posted at least 10 hours before the beginning of training course. The information related to the qualification courses for mediator will be sent to the applicants via the e-mail addresses provided by them, and it will also be posted on the official website of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.
