Rustam Badasyan participates in discussion meeting devoted to human rights protection

Today, at the invitation of "Article 3" Club, Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan held a discussion meeting with representatives of non-governmental organisations, students and other citizens interested in issues related to human rights protection.

The Minister greeted the participants of the meeting and expressed willingness for a sincere conversation.

Rustam Badasyan presented the main directions of the policy that the Government is leading in the field of human rights protection and emphasised the need for close
co-operation of non-governmental organisations in implementation of the actions envisaged by the Action Plan of the National Strategy for Human Rights Protection.

During a question-and-answer session, the Minister also touched upon a number of issues related to the fight against criminal sub-culture, the prevention of tortures and ill-treatment, the ensuring of equal rights and the protection of children's rights.

The meeting was organised within the scope of the EU-funded "Promoting and Protecting Human Rights" Project, which is being carried out by the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Population Fund and the UNICEF, in
co-operation with "For Equal Rights" NGO.
