Minister of Justice receives Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross

Today, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan received Head of the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross Caroline Douilliez.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the existing level of co-operation between the two structures and highly appreciated the efforts of the ICRC aimed at implementing reforms in the justice sector.

The Head of the Delegation extended thanks to the Minister for the reception and introduced the scope of issues that is of interest to the structure.

In particular, during the meeting the parties touched upon the implementation of a range of programmes, the issue of employment of convicts in penitentiary institutions, increasing the number of visits for convicts sentenced to life imprisonment, the issue of legislative regulation of determining the legal status of missing persons, etc.

The Minister of Justice and the Head of the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross expressed readiness to deepen the co-operation and ensure the continuity of current joint programmes.
