27/06/2016
The first workshop of co-ordinators of the combat against corruption of state bodies was held today at the Justice Academy with the participation of Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Suren Krmoyan and Lead Public Sector Specialist of the World Bank David Bernstein.
Nearly two dozens of employees of government agencies were attending the workshop.
Greeting the participants of the training course, Deputy Minister Suren Krmoyan presented the processes, deriving from the Anti-Corruption Strategy of the Republic of Armenia, on the basis of which the institute of co-ordinators of the combat against corruption has been established within government agencies of the Republic of Armenia. The Deputy Minister also touched upon the changes to be made in the descriptions of the positions of anti-corruption co-ordinators of different state bodies, according to which relevant state employees will assume certain rights and responsibilities. Within the framework of the new Anti-Corruption Strategy of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Krmoyan also stressed the importance of creating a class of faithful public servants and ensuring accountability of activities of the anti-corruption co-ordinators being newly formed within the state bodies of the Republic of Armenia.
David Bernstein also greeted the participants of the workshop and presented the goals of the involvement of the World Bank in the combat against corruption and the international practice in introducing the institute of anti-corruption co-ordination.
Touching upon the introduction of the institute of anti-corruption co-ordinators within state bodies of the Republic of Armenia, Bernstein emphasised the importance of creating a community of interns in the first stage of that process, which will become a platform where anti-corruption co-ordinators of different state bodies will have the opportunity to share similar anti-corruption problems, as a result of which solutions will be given to certain problems through joint efforts.
The workshop continued with a question-and-answer session with the participants of the workshop.
