On 10 November, the Public Council adjunct to the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia held a subsequent session chaired by Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan.
Among the participants of the session were members of the Public Council and Deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Tevan Poghosyan and Elinar Vardanyan, who made their recommendations regarding the issues that were included in the agenda.
Greeting the members of the Council, Arpine Hovhannisyan underlined the importance and urgency of the issues included in the agenda for the session of the Public Council.
Upon approval of the agenda, the members of the Council considered the draft Laws of the Republic of Armenia "On preventing and combating domestic violence" and "On non-governmental organisations".
Arpine Hovhannisyan advised the members of the Council to submit, within a ten-day period, to the Ministry of Justice their observations regarding revision of the principles for the formation and the functions of the Anti-Corruption Council.
During the session, Deputy Minister of Justice Vigen Kocharyan touched upon the draft Law "On preventing and combating domestic violence".
During the consideration of the Draft, members of the Coalition against Violence against Women were holding a protest in front of the building of the Ministry of Justice (two of the members of the Coalition were participating in the session of the Council). Learning about the protest, Arpine Hovhannisyan suggested inviting the protesters inside to participate in the consideration of the Draft. The members of the Coalition presented their issues of concern to the members of the Council and promised to submit to the Ministry of Justice their package of proposals regarding the draft Law of the Republic of Armenia "On preventing and combating domestic violence" by 30 November 2016.
