Arpine Hovhannisyan presented in Strasbourg activities carried out in the sector of democratic reforms in the Republic of Armenia

On 16 January, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan participated in the meeting entitled "2015-2018 CoE-Armenia Action Plan: Achievements and Perspectives". The Minister expressed gratitude to the Council of Europe for organising the meeting and briefly presented the activities that have already been carried out in the sector of democratic reforms in the Republic of Armenia.
Arpine Hovhannisyan touched upon the 2015-2018 Action Plan for Armenia, the processes that followed the constitutional amendments, as well as the 2012-2016 Strategic Plan for Judiciary Reforms approved by the executive order of the President of the Republic of Armenia. Within this context, the Minister set aside a number of significant achievements, in particular the introduction of an electronic mechanism for the distribution of cases among judges, the specification of objective criteria for assessing the performance of judges, etc.
During the meeting, the Minister also presented the large-scale activities that have been carried out in the sector of the fight against corruption in the Republic of Armenia over the past two years and the perspectives for development of the justice sector.
Arpine Hovhannisyan expressed once again her gratitude to the CoE Office in Yerevan for the effective co-operation in different sectors and emphasised that the Government of the Republic of Armenia highly appreciated the possibility of the launch of new programmes for continuing democratic reforms in Armenia in an effective manner.
