List of countries ensuring adequate level of protection of personal data established

The Personal Data Protection Agency of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia has established a list of the countries ensuring adequate level of protection of personal data. The list includes 50 states. The personal data may be transferred to a country included in the list without permission of the Agency.

The countries were included in this list on the basis of 3 main criteria: the country has ratified the Council of Europe Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data (Convention 108) or another comparable multilateral international treaty on protection of personal data, has a law on protection of personal data, has an authorised state body for protection of personal data.

In case of transferring personal data to countries not included in the list, the data processor shall be obliged to submit a written request to the Agency to obtain permission.
