Today, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan participated in the Conference on the Empowerment of Girls and Women in Armenia.

The Minister expressed gratitude to the American University of Armenia for organising the event and attached importance to the idea of holding a conference on this topic.

According to Arpine Hovhannisyan, one of the development criteria of any country is the position held by women in society and the attitude of the society towards them. "Each of us has a role model for perfection, that is, our mother, from whom we first of all learn the attitude towards the society", noted the Minister and added that our young country cannot afford such a "luxury" and refuse the opportunity of using the potential of our girls and women.

According to Arpine Hovhannisyan, the progress in the Armenian society in this regard is obvious. "As an example I would like to mention that 386 people work in the central apparatus of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, of which 208 are girls and women. 35 of them hold managerial positions, and the age of the majority of the employees of the Ministry is under 40", said the Minister, emphasising that these statistical figures are the silent proof of the facts and policy demonstrating positive dynamics.

According to Arpine Hovhannisyan, the ground for her pride is not just the dynamics of the numbers, but the fact that beyond those figures are educated, responsible, experienced and devoted girls and women, due to whose efforts large-scale and responsible activities set for the Ministry have been and are being successfully performed.

The Minister expressed gratitude for attentions and wished the participants of the conference fruitful work.
