Minister of Justice receives Head of South Caucasus Section of IRZ

On 30 June, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia David Harutyunyan received Head of the South Caucasus Section of the German Foundation for International Legal Co-operation (IRZ) Teresa Thalhammer.

The Minister highly appreciated the co-operation of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia with the IRZ and attached importance to the assistance provided by the Foundation that is specifically targeted at the reforms being implemented in the penitentiary sector and the activities for exchange of experience.

Тeresa Thalhammer presented the activities carried out under the agreement signed with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia and expressed willingness for continuity of the partnership.

Davit Harutyunyan also touched upon the reforms in the notary sector and noted that, by using the potential of notaries, activities will be carried out for reduction of the number of cases brought to the court. Let us remind that in accordance with the amendments made to the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On Notary", the institution of executory endorsement will be introduced, and notaries will be granted the right to verify legal facts as well.

At the end of the meeting, the parties touched upon a number of issues on training of notaries and exchange of experience with German colleagues.
