On 27 November, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Davit Harutyunyan received Executive Secretary of the Group of States Against Corruption (GRECO) of the Council of Europe Gianluca Esposito.
Minister Harutyunyan highly appreciated the co-operation with the reputable international organisation — GRECO — and attached importance to the role of the organisation in implementing serious reforms in the anti-corruption field in Armenia.
The Executive Secretary of the GRECO expressed gratitude to the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia for the effective collaboration and emphasised that Armenia is on the right track in the fight against corruption.
During the meeting, Minister Harutyunyan introduced to his counterpart the steps undertaken by Armenia in the anti-corruption field, a number of regulations in the draft of the new Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia and the opportunities of the unified website for publication of draft legal acts (www.e-draft.am), which ensures the requirement for public discussion of the draft legal acts developed by state bodies. In this regard, the Minister stated that the website is registering an unprecedented growth of visits every day; accordingly, it ensures the participation of general public in the process of development of drafts.
At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged ideas on the process of fulfilment of the assignments given to the Republic of Armenia in the Fourth Round Evaluation Report of the GRECO.
