Suren Krmoyan: "The State is obliged to ensure proper conditions for education and development of children"

Today, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Suren Krmoyan participated in a two-day workshop devoted to improvement of the procedures for maintenance of cases of juveniles demonstrating anti-social behaviour. The workshop was organised within the scope of the "Legal Education and Active Participation" project being implemented by Project Harmony organisation.
In his opening speech, Suren Krmoyan, as Chairperson of the Council for Juvenile Justice, welcomed the organising of a workshop in such a format and emphasised its importance in terms of the commitments assumed by the State before children, that is, to ensure proper conditions for education and development of children.
Within the context of the topic of discussion, the Deputy Minister emphasised the importance of increasing the role of educational and social bodies, the inter-agency approach to the existing problems, as well as the recording of children's needs. Suren Krmoyan also noted that it all depends on the co-ordinated activities of all interested and responsible institutions whether a juvenile demonstrating anti-social behaviour will grow up to be a decent citizen or whether he or she will join offenders.
During the workshop, the participants were told about the grounds for the need to examine the procedures for maintenance of cases of juveniles demonstrating anti-social behaviour at Educational Complex No 1, the identified issues concerning the stages of identifying and guiding children as a result of studies, as well as the recommendations for solutions to the issues identified.
