Artak Zeynalyan receives parliamentary delegation of Italy

Today, Acting Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Artak Zeynalyan received the parliamentary delegation of Italy led by Vice-President of the Senate Paola Taverna. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to the Republic of Armenia Vincenzo del Monaco and Deputy Minister of Justice Vigen Kocharyan also participated in the meeting.
During the conversation with the senators, the Acting Minister touched upon the results of the visit to Italy in November, the agreements reached and the perspectives for deepening co-operation, especially in the fight against transnational corruption.
Speaking about the reforms in the justice system, Artak Zeynalyan noted that the judicial authority plays a crucial role in the development of the country and added that the Government is currently making great efforts to increase the independence of the judicial authority and the trust of the people in the system. The Acting Minister also attached importance to the ongoing projects aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the activities of judges and introducing artificial intelligence in this sector to speed up the investigation of cases.
The Italian senators expressed willingness for exchange of experience and deepening of co-operation in the justice sector, after which they touched upon the process of the election campaign for the early parliamentary elections. Let us mention that the delegation is involved in the activities of the observers' group of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and is in Armenia to follow the process of the elections.
Artak Zeynalyan emphasised that this election campaign truly and positively differs from the previous ones and expressed confidence that the political powers would create an effective working atmosphere in the Parliament to be formed.
