Government approves form, amount of support to persons affected during events that occurred in Yerevan from 1 to 2 March 2008 and other regulations

The draft decision — submitted by Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Rustam Badasyan — was approved during today’s session of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. The draft decision defines the form and amount of and procedure for providing support to the persons affected during the events that occurred in Yerevan from 1 to 2 March 2008, as well as the application form for providing support, the list of documents attached to the application form and the procedure for consideration of application forms

According to the submitted draft:

• it was established that financing for the support to be provided shall be carried out through funds from the State Budget of the Republic of Armenia;
• the designated persons may, personally or through their representatives, submit their applications to the Ministry of Justice for the provision of support within three years after entry into force of this Decision;
• it was stipulated that, by considering the circumstances clarified as a result of comparison and evaluation of all documents received, the authorised body will make one of the following well-founded decisions: satisfy the application and provide support or reject the application or suspend consideration of the application. Moreover, it is emphasised that the application shall be rejected, if the fact of an applicant’s eligibility to receive support is not confirmed;
• In case the head of an authorised body satisfies the application, the authorised body shall, within five working days, transfer the amount of support to the account opened in the bank in the name of the applicant.

As a form of support, financial assistance shall be defined in the following amounts:

• a person with the status of the legal successor of a person who became deceased (died) due to injuries shall be granted AMD 30.000 000 as provided for by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia;
• a person to whose health grave harm has been caused shall be granted AMD 15.000.000;
• a person to whose health medium gravity harm has been caused shall be granted AMD 5.000.000.

The application form and the list of documents attached to it are also prescribed by the draft decision.

After entry into force of the decision of the Government, interested citizens may visit the Ministry of Justice on the day following official promulgation of the decision.
