Rustam Badasyan highly appreciates the work of outgoing Head of Council of Europe Office in Yerevan

Today, Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan received outgoing Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan Natalia Voutova.

The Minister expressed gratitude to Ms Voutova for her excellent work and effective co-operation and stressed the importance of the support of the Council of Europe in the context of the ongoing reforms in Armenia.

The Head of the Council of Europe Office also expressed gratitude for

the co-operation and emphasised that, being a lawyer, the co-operation with the Ministry of Justice and the implemented programmes were close to her heart.

The results of a number of jointly implemented and current programmes concerning the drafts of the new Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code, reforms in the probation sector, the fight against corruption, the actions targeted at the prevention of torture, etc. were briefly touched upon during the meeting.

Touching upon the issue of implementation of vetting in the judiciary, the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan emphasised that the amendments made to the Judicial Code by the Ministry of Justice have helped to create the necessary tools that can be used to implement the Code effectively and in line with European standards and values.

Minister Badasyan expressed gratitude to Ms Voutova for her efforts once again and expressed willingness to continue the already effective co-operation with the Council of Europe.

In her turn, Natalia Voutova expressed the willingness of the Council of Europe to continue to provide assistance to Armenia on the path to accomplishing the mission to strengthen the rule of law and implement reforms.
