Minister of Justice discusses with Ambassador of Iran the ways to solve the issues of Iranians being kept at penitentiary institutions in Armenia

Today, Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Zohouri.

The Minister congratulated the Ambassador on the start of the diplomatic mission in Armenia and expressed confidence that the friendly relations established between the two countries will continue to be effective.

Ambassador Zohouri expressed gratitude to Rustam Badasyan for the meeting, emphasised the deep historical and cultural past of Armenia and Iran and the existing warm relations and expressed confidence that the agreements reached within the scope of the Armenian-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission will be implemented, to the benefit of the peoples of Armenia and Iran.

During the meeting, the Minister of Justice and the Ambassador touched upon the issue of transferring the Iranian convicts serving their punishments in Armenia to Iran, the conditions for keeping convicted and detained Iranians at penitentiary institutions of Armenia and other issues.

Minister Badasyan asked the Ambassador to convey his warm words to the friendly Iranian people having suffered from COVID-19, wishing them a speedy recovery.
