A public discussion dedicated to the establishment of specialised anti-corruption judicial system held

Today, a public discussion dedicated to the establishment of the specialised
anti-corruption judicial system took place with the participation of Deputy Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan. President of the Armenian Bar Association, Coordinator of the Secretariat of the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia Karen Zadoyan, Chairperson of the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption Haykuhi Harutyunyan, and others also participated in the public discussion.

Deputy Minister Galyan, emphasising in her welcoming speech the importance of holding such public discussions, touched upon the legal regulations envisaged by the legislative package of forming an anti-corruption court. In particular, she presented the open competition procedure for the nomination and election of candidates for judges of the anti-corruption court, as well as the restrictions envisaged for the nomination of candidates, the number of judges in the first, appeal and cassation instances. The courses and training programmes envisaged to be held after the election of candidates were also discussed.

Afterwards, the Deputy Minister answered the comments of the other speakers on the draft Law and the questions of the representatives of non-governmental organisations participating in the public discussion remotely.

Summing up, Srbuhi Galyan noted that the Ministry of Justice is open and ready to discuss all the comments containing alternative solutions regarding the Draft.
