New Patrol Service will start operating in Yerevan from Q1 2021

Today, during the meeting held with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan the process of the reforms of the Police of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the agenda on establishing a new Patrol Service were discussed. Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan presented the details on taking applications of citizens wishing to find a job in the new structure, the procurement of vehicles and technical equipment, the selection of trainers to conduct the trainings and other activities. It was mentioned that the training of shortlisted citizens will launch at the Police Educational Complex as early as mid-October 2020, with a view to shaping an image of a well-trained officer having new functions, equipment, skills and mindset. The Minister noted that the reform is progressing smoothly in tune with the established timetable; it is envisaged that the Patrol Service will start operating in Yerevan from Q1 2021, whereas throughout Armenia — from Q1 2022. During the meeting, issues regarding the structure and staffing of the Patrol Service to be established, as well as the location thereof were discussed. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of formation and development of a new Patrol Service in Armenia and instructed those in charge to continue working actively in accordance with the pre-established timetable.
