Restrictions on visits and deliverables at penitentiary institutions have been lifted; general procedure to be in effect starting from 1 May

28/04/2022

Today, on April 28, during the session of the Government, a decision was made to lift the restrictions on visits to persons deprived of liberty, as well as restrictions on receiving deliverables. This decision was made on the initiative of the Ministry of Justice, taking into account the suggestions made by persons deprived of liberty and their relatives.

This decision will enter into force from 1 May, which means that the persons deprived of liberty may benefit from visits starting from 1 May without the compulsory requirement for vaccination, a PCR test or a rapid test.

From 1 May, the general procedure for receiving deliverables will also be in effect, lifting the restriction on receiving one deliverable a week.

The Ministry of Justice calls on being vigilant and strictly observing the sanitary-epidemiological norms during visits and when bringing deliverables, thus, helping to ensure a safe environment at penitentiary institutions.
