Attaching importance to the great role of GRECO in combating corruption, Minister of Justice Karen Andreasyan noted that the Government, as represented by the Ministry of Justice, is doing its best to fulfil all GRECO advisory requirements.

Minister of Justice Karen Andreasyan delivered opening remarks at the high-level conference organised by the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) of the Council of Europe and the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption of the Republic of Armenia which was devoted to a presentation of the model code of conduct for public servants in Armenia.

During the event held with the participation of Executive Secretary of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) of the Council of Europe (CoE), Head of the Action against Economic Crime and Co-operation Department of the CoE Hanne Juncher; Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia Andrea Wiktorin; Deputy Minister of Justice of Albania Adea Pirdeni; Chairperson of the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption Haykuhi Harutyunyan and other high-level local and international officials, Karen Andreasyan presented the institutional successes that the Government of the Republic of Armenia has made in the anti-corruption field with the support of the EU.

Minister Andreasyan attached importance to the Anti-Corruption Courts, the Anti-Corruption Committee and the Department for Oversight over Lawfulness of Pre-Trial Proceedings at the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia formed within the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia and the Department for Confiscation of Property of Illicit Origin as a tangible result that has already been recorded.

Attaching importance to the great role of GRECO in combating corruption, Andreasyan noted that the Government, as represented by the Ministry of Justice and other state bodies, is doing its best to fulfil all GRECO advisory requirements and expressed hope that there will not be any unfulfilled requirement in the nearest future.

Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia Andrea Wiktorin expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Justice for development and unimpeded implementation of the anti-corruption policy and, in this context, attached importance to the process of developing and adopting the model code of conduct for public servants of the Republic of Armenia.

The significance of guidance and training for state officials and the promotion of integrity at all levels of public service were highlighted during the conference.
