Armenia is taking steps for being included in the list of the first group of countries for combating trafficking — Yeranuhi Tumanyants

Deputy Minister of Justice Yeranuhi Tumanyants attended the event devoted to the launch of an information campaign for awareness-raising of the fight against and for prevention of trafficking in and exploitation of human beings. In her opening remarks, Deputy Minister Tumanyants expressed gratitude to the organisers and attendees of the event and highlighted the importance of the launch of the information campaign for awareness-raising of the fight against and for prevention of trafficking in and exploitation of human beings.
The Deputy Minister particularly presented the measures taken by the Government over the past decades for combating trafficking in and exploitation of human beings and the tangible results recorded as a result of implementation of those measures. Deputy Minister Tumanyants also stressed the importance of the systemic nature of implementation of such measures.
Deputy Minister Tumanyants informed that due to the effective co-operation of state bodies, civil society and international organisations within the scope of the 2022 Trafficking in Persons Report of the United States Department of State, Armenia has maintained its position in the 2nd group in the scale of classification and made some progress.
Deputy Minister Tumanyants also presented the activities being carried out within the scope of the co-operation between the Ministry of Justice and the expert group of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia and attached importance to the further course of the co-operation for combating trafficking in and exploitation of human beings.
The Deputy Minister added that the Ministry of Justice will be consistent with the implementation of the recommendations presented within the scope of the 2022 Trafficking in Humans Report of the United States Department of State, by including Armenia in the list of the 1st group of countries combating trafficking in which Armenia has been for years.
The event was held at the initiative of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and within the scope of the initiative of the Data for Impact (D4I) Project implemented through the funding provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), aimed at strengthening the monitoring systems for combating trafficking in Armenia.
