Asian Development Bank expresses willingness to support public administration reforms in Armenia

Minister of Justice Karen Andreasyan received Principal Counsel of the Asian Development Bank, Head of the Legal and Policy Development Group Christina Pak and Head of the Division for Knowledge Management and Climate Changes Susann Roth, who are on a working visit to Armenia. The topic of public administration reforms was in the focus of the meeting.

Minister Andreasyan noted that Public Administration Reforms are currently one of the priorities of the Government, the implementation of which, as well as the implementation of a number of other major nationwide reforms has been assumed by the Ministry of Justice.

Susann Roth shared her experience in the public administration sector and expressed willingness for providing support not only to investment programmes but also to professional and expertise activities. An agreement was reached on efficient co-operation in the given sector, up to forming joint working groups.

Karen Andreasyan presented the course of establishment of a new arbitration centre in Armenia which is planned to be completed in the beginning of the coming year. The Minister also presented the achievements made in the fight against corruption, the reforms made in the judicial and legal sector, as well as talked about the Ministry of Internal Affairs being newly established and the new penitentiary institution to be built.

The aim of the visit of the colleagues of the Asian Development Bank was to become familiar with the course of implementation of the programmes being jointly implemented and target new sectors which may lay the foundation for new co-operation between the Ministry of Justice and the Asian Development Bank.
