Narcotic drugs, aerial vehicles, phones — Ministry of Justice presents November progress report on prohibited items detected at penitentiary institutions

The officers of the Operations Division, Security and Safety Divisions of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice have detected and prevented attempts of circulation of prohibited items, narcotic drugs, as well as card games at penitentiary institutions.

The Ministry of Justice presents the progress report on narcotic drugs and other prohibited items detected at penitentiary institutions of Armenia in the month of November.

Thus, during the shift at "Sevan" Penitentiary Institution, the officer of the Safety Division informed that an aerial vehicle was observed as it approached the residential zone and flew in the direction of the first building. Sight inspection of the aforementioned area was immediately carried out, as a result of which a package of suspicious contents wrapped in tape was detected in which there were yellow-green, dry and chocolate-like masses resembling marijuana-type narcotic drug, as well as a transparent container filled with a liquid mass with the smell and colour typical to brandy.

The officer of the Safety Division of the same penitentiary institution alerted with regard to another case on possible throw-in. Right after that, sight inspection was carried out, and a package containing crystal-like mass resembling methamphetamine type of narcotic drug was detected in-between two checkpoints of the institution.

In another case, during a regular tour at "Sevan" Penitentiary Institution, a suspicious package containing yellow-green mass resembling marijuana-type narcotic drug and white, chocolate-like powder masses were detected on the grass cover of the stadium designed for the convicts.

The officer of the Safety Division in one of the observation towers of "Vanadzor" Penitentiary Institution reported that he had noticed a black car on the road from which they did a threw-in into the prohibited zone of the institution and quickly left. Site inspection was carried out, and a yellow package containing two mobile phones wrapped with sponge without a subscription card was detected near the observation tower.

The officers of "Artik" Penitentiary Institution examined the refrigerator brought in the name of the convict, as a result of which it was established that an additional metal cover was welded onto the motor of the refrigerator. They completely disassembled the motor and examined it through an X-ray screening device for safety. As a result of this, 9 mobile phones, 4 subscription cards, 1 charger, 8 USB wires, 3 earphones and 2 batteries of a mobile phone were detected in the cache previously constructed in the additional section of the motor of the refrigerator.

The officers of "Nubarashen" Penitentiary Institution examined the delivery brought in the name of the detained person. As a result, 2 drоppers were detected in the left pocket, the walls of which contained masses resembling narcotic drugs in the form of ashes.

In another case, the officers of the same penitentiary institution examined the delivery brought in the name of a detained person. As a result of examination, suspicious masses resembling a narcotic drug in the form of sediment in 4 plastic bottles of orange juice with 0-5 capacity were detected. With regard to the detected substance, the citizen verbally stated that the juice was transferred to him by the acquaintances of the detained person in order for it to be handed over to the latter.

The officers of the same penitentiary institution subjected another detained person to a personal search before a lengthy visit, and, as a result, a package with yellow-green mass was detected in the pocket of the detained person.

In another case, the officers of the Operations Division of the aforementioned penitentiary institution subjected the citizen who had come to see the detained person for a short visit, but detected nothing with the latter. Afterwards, as a result of explanatory activities, the citizen handed the hidden package wrapped in a transparent plastic bag over to the officers; the package contained herbal yellow-green masses resembling marijuana type of narcotic drug over to the officers.

Officers of the Operations Division of the "Hospital of Convicts" Penitentiary Institution subjected the citizen who had come to see a detained person for a short visit. A yellow-green suspicious mass resembling marijuana type was detected under the collar of the citizen's jacket. The citizen verbally stated that he does not know what the substance detected during the search could be.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated, and forensic-chemical expert examinations have been designated under all the aforementioned cases.
