Narcotic drugs, aerial vehicles, phones — Ministry of Justice presents December progress report on prohibited items detected at penitentiary institutions

The officers of the Operations, Security and Safety Divisions of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice have detected and prevented attempts of circulation of prohibited items, narcotic drugs, as well as card games at penitentiary institutions.

The Ministry of Justice presents the December progress report on narcotic drugs and other prohibited items detected at penitentiary institutions of Armenia.

And so, officers of "Nubarashen" and "Vardashen" Penitentiary Institutions, while entering "Nubarashen" Penitentiary Institution, searched the doctor of the "Vardashen" and "Nubarashen" medical subdivision of "Penitentiary Medicine Centre" State Non-Commercial Organisation.

A wi-fi device, which is considered as a prohibited item, was detected with the doctor; through inspection, 11 packages were detected, in which there were masses resembling narcotic drugs of the heroine and metamphetamine types, as well as a mass resembling the narcotic drug of opium type and a mass resembling the narcotic drug of marijuana type. The doctor imported the specified narcotic drugs to the penitentiary institution for the purpose of selling them to a convict.

Officers of "Hospital of Convicts" Penitentiary Institution examined the delivery brought by a citizen in the name of a detained person.

As a result, a package containing white, crystalline and powder-like masses was detected in the pocket of the coat that was brought for the detainee.

In different cases, officers of "Vanadzor" Penitentiary Institution searched citizens having visited detained persons. In the first case, a mobile phone wrapped in women's stocking, with a subscription card and earphone designed for the mobile phone, were detected from within the hair of a female citizen who had come to visit a detained person.

In the second case, officers detected separated masses resembling the narcotic drug of marijuana type wrapped in polyethylene bags in the food brought in the name of a convict.

An on-duty officer of "Sevan" Penitentiary Institution detected a suspicious package containing a mass resembling marijuana-type narcotic drug and white chocolate-like powder masses on the grass cover of the exercise yard designed for the convicts.

On the outside of the gate of the 2nd building of "Artik" Penitentiary Institution, a package wrapped in black, adhesive tape was detected, and brown, powder-like masses resembling the narcotic drug of marijuana type were detected in the package.

In another case, officers of "Artik" Penitentiary Institution spotted an unmanned aerial vehicle in the aerial space of the residential area of the Institution. As a result, a package wrapped in transparent polyethylene film and with a black hanger was detected on the ramp adjacent to the exercise yard near one of the buildings of the Institution; in the package there were white, powder-like and brown masses.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated, forensic-chemical expert examinations have been assigned in all the aforementioned cases.
