Progress of the fight against corruption in Armenia presented during Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) in USA

Head of the Anti-Corruption Policy Development and Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Lara Petrosyan took part in the 10th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) held in Atlanta, USA. Within the scope of the Conference, the representative of the Ministry of Justice delivered speeches, presenting the achievements recorded as a result of the anti-corruption institutional reforms implemented in the Republic of Armenia, the new Anti-Corruption Strategy and the actions envisaged by the 2023-2026 Action Plan arising from the Strategy. In particular, the functions of the Corruption Prevention Commission as an independent advisory body, the actions enshrined by the Anti-Corruption Strategy with regard to ongoing empowerment of the Commission, the regulations on the whistle-blowing system and real beneficiaries, the establishment of a register of real beneficiaries, the introduction of the institution of universal declaration, the betterment of integrity check mechanisms, etc were presented. The representative of the Ministry of the Justice also touched upon the actions implemented and achievements made by the Republic of Armenia within the scope of the review mechanism of the United Nations Convention against Corruption. Within the scope of the Conference, Lara Petrosyan also made a number of recommendations for the draft Resolutions of the United Nations, which were assessed by advanced Western countries.
The representative of the Ministry of Justice also participated in the Democracy Financial Transparency and Integrity (FTI) Cohort thematic group formed within the scope of the Summit for Democracy where issues related to the responsibility of those involved in and promoting corruption actions were considered.
