Personal Data Protection Agency fines organisation for the first time for illegitimately processing personal data

The Personal Data Protection Agency has instituted administrative proceedings to check the compliance of personal data processing on the part of a few organisations providing payment and settlement services, and an administrative penalty has already been imposed on one of those organisations by way of imposition of a fine. The particular organisation has properly paid the amount of the imposed fine to the corresponding bank account of the State Treasury.

Let us mention that the Personal Data Protection Agency carries out state control over the lawfulness of personal data processing that is carried out by state and local self-government bodies and legal and natural persons.

The Agency, at its initiative or based on a relevant application, checks, within the scope of administrative proceedings, the compliance of personal data processing with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On personal data protection" and, in case of violation of those requirements, imposes an administrative penalty prescribed by the Administrative Offences Code of the Republic of Armenia.
