Community of mediators replenished with new specialists

A ceremony of granting qualification certificates to licensed mediators was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Justice, Chairperson of the Qualification Commission Karen Karapetyan. The Deputy Minister congratulated all the specialists on successfully passing the testing and training stages of qualification, attaching importance to development of the sector of mediation as an essential component-element of the judicial-legal reforms.

The new mediators were also greeted by Director of the "Legislation Development Centre" Foundation of the Ministry of Justice Tigran Dadunts, who presented the vision of the Ministry of Justice and the future actions for development of the mediation sector, betterment of the legislation on mediation and the conduct of study and training meeting international standards, as well as for replenishment of the sector with new specialists. Let us mention that from 17 to 24 November, through the co-operation of the Ministry of Justice, the Project "Support to the justice reform in Armenia" of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan and the Armenia Centre for Arbitration and Conciliation, a pilot course for training and instruction of current mediators and contenders was organised, and the contenders having successfully passed the course participated in the two stages of the qualification test for mediators. As a result, 14 new mediators have joined the community of mediators. What made the course more comprehensive and helpful were the guest experts and judges, who shared their valuable experience in the mediation sector and their comments on the new legislative regulations.

To make the process of mediation more accessible and co-ordinated, the activities for the creation of an electronic platform for mediation at e-meditation.am are drawing to an end. The platform will provide the opportunity to co-ordinate the whole process on-line.
