Grigor Minasyan discussed with EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos the justice sector reforms and the programmes being implemented with EU support

Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan received Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Vassilis Maragos. The Minister highly appreciated the role of the EU in the implementation of democratic reforms and ensuring of the rule of law in Armenia, as well as attached importance to the co-operation between the EU Delegation and the Ministry of Justice in different formats. Minister Grigor Minasyan presented the activities implemented in the justice sector and the anti-corruption reforms. The digitalisation of civil procedure, which is in progress since 1 February, was particularly touched upon. The Minister expressed gratitude to the EU Ambassador for the active support in this sector. The activities of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia and the projects to be implemented in the near future in this direction were presented. Touching upon the constitutional reforms, the importance of ongoing support from the European Union was emphasised. Ambassador Vasilis Maragos mentioned the importance of Armenia-EU cooperation in different formats, including the implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the European Union-Armenia Strategic Justice Police Dialogue (Justice Dialogue) and regular sessions of the Human Rights Dialogue (CEPA HRD). Both parties emphasised the importance of making reforms in the justice sector and ensuring continuity of the support from the EU in this direction. The Minister and the EU Ambassador discussed the programmes being implemented with the EU Budget Support and exchanged views on a number of issues in this direction. The parties touched upon other issues of mutual interest. An agreement was reached to continue the joint activities for reforms in the justice sector.
