Hunger strike at "Vanadzor" Penitentiary Institution stopped

All persons deprived of liberty having gone on a hunger strike as a result of searches conducted at "Vanadzor" Penitentiary Institutions on 9 February stopped the hunger strike. Earlier, it was reported that on 9 February, possessing information about the fact that prohibited items are stored in the cells of “Vanadzor” Penitentiary Institution and that certain persons deprived of liberty gained advantages over other persons deprived of liberty, officers of the Central Body of the Penitentiary Service, along with officers of the Special Purpose Department of the Service, jointly conducted searches in the cells of the Institution. The officers detected masses resembling a narcotic drug, cell phones, homemade alcoholic beverages and other prohibited items in the cells. On the same day — on 9 February, the persons deprived of liberty who are held at "Vanadzor" Penitentiary Institution and are guided by the criminal subculture, were transferred to another penitentiary institution, and some detained persons and convicts went on a hunger strike in support of the mentioned persons deprived of liberty.
