International practice in the adoption of constitutional amendments and new Constitutions presented to the Council for Constitutional Reforms

On 16 February, a joint session of the Council and the Commission for Constitutional Reforms was held at the Ministry of Justice. The agenda for the session included issues related to the organisation of the upcoming activities of the Council and of the Commission, the peculiarities of the new Constitution or amendments to the Constitution, the internal structure and model of the Constitution, as well as conceptual directions which were previously presented by member of the Council Vigen Kocharyan and have not been considered yet.During the session, the members of the Council listened to the report of the Commission on the constitutional amendments and the international practice in the adoption of new Constitutions, and this was followed by a discussion.Other issues related to the need to make the activities of the Council more systemic and periodic were also included in the agenda for the session. In this context, based on the fact that the Council was established upon the Decision of the Prime Minister, it was proposed to organise a discussion with the Prime Minister to exchange views on the future directions for the process of constitutional reforms. The Council decided to touch upon the content-related issues of the agenda during the next session.
