More than three dozen convicts to take part in secondary and basic education exams

External final examinations for convicts have started at the penitentiary institutions of the Ministry of Justice and will end on 14 March. More than three dozen convicts will take part in the external examinations to obtain a basic education certificate and secondary education certificate. Let us remind that starting from 2022, an educational programme was launched in penitentiary institutions, according to which convicts over the age of 19 may receive secondary education with government support. The programme envisages courses in various subjects which are conducted by the “Centre for Implementation of Legal Education and Rehabilitation Programmes" State Non-Commercial Organisation. The duration of the programme is a year and a half, and at the end, the convicts will take external examinations to obtain a basic education certificate and a secondary education certificate. The programme is being implemented at "Armavir", "Abovyan", "Artik", "Nubarashen", "Sevan" and "Vanadzor" Penitentiary Institutions.
