Judicial and legal reforms, exchange of experience, capacity building: Results of the project implemented with EU support summed up

Deputy Minister of Justice Karen Karapetyan delivered opening remarks at the final event of the "Support to the justice reform in Armenia — Phase I" technical assistance programme funded by the European Union. The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the colleagues of the EU and the technical assistance programme team for the willingness that they showed and the efforts that they made during implementation of the programme and the effective co-operation, as well as for achieving positive results. Karen Karapetyan presented the activities carried out in the judicial and legal sector within the scope of the technical assistance programme, which included study visits to European countries to study the best practices in the field of the rule of law, organisation of courts’ activities, as well as trainings on the capacity-building for various departments of the Ministry of Justice in regard to budget management, methodologies for monitoring and evaluation of programmes, etc.
Coordination meetings with development partners, as well as the meetings for the Armenia-EU Justice Dialogue, which are aimed at presenting and recapping the process of justice reforms in Armenia and the results achieved, were also highly appreciated. Karen Karapetyan also noted that on 7 December 2023 the "Support to the justice reform in Armenia — Phase II" programme — aimed at assisting the Government of the Republic of Armenia in implementing the reforms agenda in the justice sector — was launched.
During the event, the technical assistance programme team also presented the joint achievements made as a result of the support that was provided to beneficiary institutions throughout the programme and the co-operation.
