Karen Karapetyan discusses anti-corruption progress with representatives of the Civil Society Organisations Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia

Deputy Minister of Justice Karen Karapetyan received representatives of the Civil Society Organisations Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia led by Coordinator of the Secretariat of the Coalition, Chairperson of the Armenian Lawyers' Association Karen Zadoyan.
Karen Karapetyan expressed gratitude to the representatives of the Anti-Corruption Coalition for the effective co-operation and jointly implemented activities, particularly the activities for development of the Anti-Corruption Strategy and the 2023-2026 Action Plan arising from the Strategy and contribution made within the scope of the awareness-raising campaign for the whistle-blowing system.
The Deputy Minister emphasised the important and key role of the civil society in all the chains of anti-corruption, namely in the areas of preventing and countering corruption, as well as anti-corruption education and awareness-raising. During the working meeting, issues of institutional empowerment of anti-corruption bodies, improvement of countering corruption provided for by the Anti-Corruption Strategy and the 2023-2026 Action Plan arising from the Strategy, including the whistle-blowing system, the institutions of criminal liability of legal persons and civil forfeiture of illegal assets, as well as anti-corruption education and public awareness, were discussed.
The parties also touched upon the issues of corruption prevention in public and private sectors; improvement of mechanisms for administrative actions in the tax and customs sectors; improvement of integrity, accountability and transparency in the areas of public procurement; protection of the rights of business persons; the declaration system, as well as other issues of mutual interest. The parties agreed to combine efforts for proper and effective implementation of the actions provided for by the Anti-Corruption Strategy.
