Karen Karapetyan receives newly appointed Chief of Party at the USAID Armenia Justice Sector Support Project

Deputy Minister of Justice Karen Karapetyan received newly appointed Chief of Party at the USAID Armenia Justice Sector Support Project Hasmik Hakobyan.

The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the effective co-operation with the USAID within the scope of the extensive reforms being carried out by the Ministry and expressed willingness for closer co-operation in all the areas envisaged by the Project.

Karen Karapetyan presented the reforms in the judicial and legal sector and particularly touched upon the introduction of alternative disputes resolution mechanisms, the activities carried out in the sectors of arbitration and mediation and electronic justice. In this context, the attendees exchanged views on combining the efforts of development partners and holding regular meetings.

Chief of Party Hasmik Hakobyan expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet, as well as presented the upcoming activities to be carried out within the scope of the Project and the actions to be implemented with the Ministry of Justice which will be focused on alternative disputes resolution mechanisms, issues related to ensuring access for businesspersons and the support to the agenda for digitisation of the justice sector.

The parties also discussed issues related to expansion of the scope of co-operation across the full range of judicial and legal reforms.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to predetermine the actions to be implemented during the coming year and the timetables for their implementation and expressed their willingness to effectively continue implementation of the Project and foster continuity of reforms in the justice sector.

Director of the "Centre for Legislation Development and Legal Research" Foundation Tigran Dadunts also took part in the meeting.
