Ensuring of domestic mechanisms, training for law-enforcement officers — Ara Mkrtchyan presents the steps being taken following ratification of the Rome Statute

Deputy Minister of Justice Ara Mkrtchyan delivered welcoming remarks at the inaugural event of the Project Support to the Armenian Authorities in the ICC Rome Statute Post-Ratification Processes was launched with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Armenia.
The Deputy Minister stressed that upon ratification of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, through the co-ordination of the Ministry of Justice, active works are being carried out to ensure domestic mechanisms, to provide training for law- enforcement officers and in other areas as well. In this context, the Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for providing systemic and comprehensive assistance to the process. Stating that the Government already has a clear notion of the steps that will follow ratification of the Rome Statute, Ara Mkrtchyan attached importance to the effective co-operation of state bodies, civil society representatives and international partners in this context.
Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Armenia Jaap Frederiks highly appreciated the close co-operation with Armenia in the context of post-ratification of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
Chairperson of the Europe in Law Association non-governmental organisation Lusine Hakobyan presented the main components of the Project to the participants.
Representatives of embassies, international organisations, state bodies and the civil society attended the event. The Project is being implemented by Europe in Law Association non-governmental organisation, jointly with the Ministry of Justice.
