Ara Mkrtchyan presents programmes for improving fight against money laundering at opening of "Advancing Comprehensive Anti-Corruption Reforms in Armenia" project

Deputy Minister of Justice Ara Mkrtchyan attended the opening event for the new "Advancing Comprehensive Anti-Corruption Reforms in Armenia" project. In his welcoming remarks, Ara Mkrtchyan expressed gratitude to the Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs for the invitation. The Deputy Minister emphasised the importance of the project in the context of improvement of the fight against money laundering. Pinpointing the importance of improving the legislation in this direction, as well as identification, assessment and reduction of risks, Ara Mkrtchyan mentioned that steps are already being taken for improvement of the tools for national reporting. The Deputy Minister noted that, at the same time, introduction of the international best practice for development of the skills of Armenian colleagues in this sector will ensure an effective fight against corruption phenomena and transnational crimes. The new project is funded by U.S. Embassy Yerevan’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, in co-operation with the East-West Management Institute.
