100th anniversary of National Archives of Armenia marked by international scientific conference

The "National Archives of Armenia" of the Ministry of Justice is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its establishment. On 26-28 March, an international scientific conference titled "Archives. The memory of mankind" was organised in co-operation with the National Conference of UNESCO. In her opening remarks, Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice Sirvard Gevorgyan mentioned that the National Archives of Armenia has become a repository of the historical memory of the Armenian people, tasked with preserving, revitalising, and conveying new life to documents. Director of the National Archives of Armenia Artur Stepanyan emphasised that the establishment of the National Archives was an important and significant event that conveyed impetus to the advancement of history of the Armenian people and science, as well as to the preservation of historical and cultural heritage of the Armenian people. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the National Archives of Armenia, heads and representatives of the International Council on Archives, Archives of the United States of America, the Russian Federation, India, Kazakhstan, Greece, Bulgaria, Moldova, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have arrived in Armenia. Within the scope of the international scientific conference, the National Archives of Armenia hosted an exhibition of archival documents, on the occasion of which an illustrative book of valuable documents — stored in the National Archives of Armenia — has been published.
