Problems of juveniles, child protection risks in the digital environment — Council for Juvenile Justice holds meeting

Deputy Minister of Justice Levon Balyan delivered opening remarks at the meeting of the Council for Juvenile Justice. During the meeting, the issues identified by the Human Rights Defender in the juvenile justice sector in 2023, the risks and opportunities for protecting children in the digital environment were discussed, and the "Child Safety on the Internet" research study and the implemented activities were presented. In particular, the problems with keeping records of juveniles at the Information Centre of the Police were presented. Head of the Division for Protection of the Rights of Children of the Office of the Human Rights Defender Anahit Khachatryan presented the problems of juveniles in the justice sector. She mentioned that the research and monitoring conducted by the Human Rights Defender attest to the need for actions aimed at preventing juvenile delinquency. At the end of the meeting, the upcoming plans were also considered.
