Detecting explosive in 5 minutes instead of the previous 3 days — Expert Centre has new device

The Ballistic and Explosive Expertise Department of the "Expert Center of the Republic of Armenia" SNCO has acquired new state-of-the-art devices which make it possible to detect explosives in samples taken from the scene of the incident. In the past, this kind of an expert examination would take at least 2-3 days, but now it is conducted in just 5 minutes. Among the other equipment of the Center is a device designed to check the suitability of bullets for firing, which allows checking the bullets of furrow’s rifles of 4,5–15 mm calibre, as well as smooth-bore firearms of up to 12 mm calibre without weapons of the appropriate calibre and gunnery range. In the past, appropriate weapons needed to be available for conducting such expert examination, but not all types of weapons were available at the Center.
