Possibility of transferring criminal proceedings from one investigative body to another — Working discussion held at Ministry of Justice

Under the co-ordination of Deputy Minister of Justice Armenuhi Harutyunyan, a discussion was organised in respect of the draft Law of the Republic of Armenia "On making amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia" submitted by Deputy of the National Assembly Arpine Davoyan through the procedure for legislative initiative. The Draft proposes to vest the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia with additional tools, specifically in exceptional cases, except for the purpose of ensuring impartiality, also with the opportunity to transfer the criminal proceedings from one investigative body to another in order to ensure comprehensive investigation. The aim of the discussion was to shape the final version of the Government's recommendations on the Draft, as a result of which it was decided — on the ground of a new version proposed by the Ministry of Justice agreed upon after reaching a consensus — to submit to the Office of the Prime Minister an agreed version of acceptable formulations. Representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office, the Investigative Committee, the Anti-Corruption Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs participated in the discussion.
