Opportunity for accession of Armenia to EUROPRIS considered — Heads of Probation and Penitentiary Services participate in World Congress on Probation and Parole

Head of the Penitentiary Service Ambakum Grigoryan and Head of the Probation Service Aram Nikoyan participated in the 6th World Congress on Probation and Parole in the Hague, Kingdom of the Netherlands. Within the scope of the Congress, Ambakum Grigoryan discussed the sector-specific issues with representatives of the penitentiary systems of other European countries and visited the local Custodial Institutions Agency in order to explore the practice of the Netherlands. Ambakum Grigoryan met with Deputy Director of the European Organisation of Prison and Correctional Services Justina Dzienko; during the meeting, the opportunity for accession of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia to the Organisation was also considered. Head of the Probation Service Aram Nikoyan met with Secretary General of the Confederation of European Probation Jana Špero. The parties discussed the issues related to the Probation Service becoming a full-fledged member of the Confederation of European Probation in January 2024 and predetermined the future steps to be taken within the scope of co-operation. The Head of the Service also met with Managing Director of the Dutch Probation Service of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Johan Bac, Chairman of the National Board of Probation Officers of the Republic of Poland Dariusz Palmirski, Executive Director of the Probation and Mediation Service of the Czech Republic Andrea Matoušková and Head of Probation Sector of the Prison and Probation Directorate at the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration of the Republic of Croatia Goran Brkić, with whom he discussed the possible directions for co-operation.
