Grigor Minasyan becomes familiar with the activities for improvement of confinement conditions of persons deprived of liberty at “Sevan” Penitentiary Institution — Issues of conditional early release discussed with life-sentenced prisoners

Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan and Deputy Minister Levon Balyan toured “Sevan” Penitentiary Institution, accompanied by Head of the Penitentiary Service, Colonel of Justice Ambakum Grigoryan.

The Minister became familiar with the conditions for confinement of persons deprived of liberty at the Penitentiary Institution, the capital renovation works of the new dwelling intended for around 100 convicts, as well as the process of supplying food and receiving deliveries. The Head of the Penitentiary Service presented the action plan for the upcoming years to the Minister.

During the tour, the Minister met life-sentenced prisoners and became familiar with their problems. During the meeting, the test run of the new criteria for conditional early release of prisoners from serving the sentence was discussed with Deputy Minister of Justice Levon Balyan and Head of the Penitentiary Service Ambakum Grigoryan.

At the end of the meeting, Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan gave assignments.
