Penitentiary Service officially joins EuroPris

The Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia has officially joined EuroPris (European Organisation of Prison and Correctional Services). Head of the Penitentiary Service, Colonel of Justice Ambakum Grigoryan submitted to the President of the Organisation the application for membership. In the application, Grigoryan presented the current state of the Penitentiary Service, the programmes and directions for the planned reforms and their progress, as well as the expectations from accession to the Organisation. The application of the Penitentiary Service to join the organisation was accepted unanimously by the Board of Directors of EuroPris. The penitentiary bodies of 39 member states in the Council of Europe region, which have established a wide network for the exchange of best experiences, are members of the organisation. Joining EuroPris will provide the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia with a number of advantages, including opportunities to establish international ties among prison specialists and managers of the European Community, access to databases of the key resources of EPIS (European Prison Information System) and KMS (knowledge management system) and active involvement in expert groups with regard to relevant prison-related topics.
